University Interview Prep.

Hello? Well I’m glad you are looking at this subject if you are considering a university education. These days mostly only top universities require an entrance interview. The University of Hong Kong is one such university. If you are trying for a scholarship then you will most definitely have to attend an interview also. An interview for a university is much the same as a job interview so learning what they want to hear is important to get anywhere at a professional level. If you lack ambition and are prepared to work in a low class factory under poor conditions for next to nothing in wages then you have no need to seriously learn how to conduct yourselves at an interview.

First off realize that both a university interviewers plus a work employer wants to feel that you like what they are offering. They want to see also that you know something of their history. So this requires that you read up and get prepared to say why you have chosen to study with them or work for them. So what I am saying is that they want to hear that you want to link your future to them. For instance here is a link for the Alumni Association for the University of Hong Kong for the Nursing faculty. This is a way to network and receive and give help to fellow graduates once you have left university. http://www.hku.hk/alumnibodies/hkunaa/index.htm

Now when you turn up for an interview for a good job you will be watched from the moment that they see you. Good clean conservative clothing is the safest way to dress.

Young ladies can dress in fashionable clothes provided it isn’t something that couldn’t be worn to work at an up market business office. Little things like clean nails are important. The way you sit is also important. It reflects your outlook on life. If you slouch back when you sit it leads (makes) people to thing you are lazy.

You will get asked question about what goals you hope to achieve in your life. This question is in regard to your career objectives not money or personal life. If you lack any sense of direction in your life then a good university will not be interested in you. Now no matter how bright you are don’t go saying that you want to become the leader of China or even his Japanese interpreter of some other one off position for the whole of China this will not impress your interviewers when you are trying to get accepted into their university. If you tell them you want to start with a company for example like “Name a company” or a government position doing “Name the position / job” and work up to such and such a level within the company / government within say five or ten years then they will take notice of you.

Now I will be constantly be adding more info and links to this site so watch it from time to time.

Time management skills for high school.

Your success in high school depends on your use of time. While you probably have not control over when your classes are scheduled, you do have control of the rest of your time. Here are some important things to remember.

Use a To Do List for Time Management.
Use a small notebook and jot down things you need to do 1) today, 2) tomorrow, and 3) by the end of the week or later. Prioritize today’s list. If today’s list is too long, it’s time to regroup, break down, and move some items to tomorrow or further into the week. That isn’t procrastination; it’s time management. Procrastination is when you know you have to get something done, but agonize over doing it as time slips away. For example, if on Monday you get a large assignment that’s due Friday, break it into smaller parts and work on it all through the week, making your goal to have most of it done before Thursday’s study time.

Career Objectives

You will need to be able to speak about what you want to do after you leave university plus in five and ten years roughly after you have started work.

Your Resume must answer:
“Why You?”

http://www.getinterviews.com/

In essence, you are COMPETING with your peers for the same position – and just listing your employment history and education does not tell the potential employer anything DIFFERENT about you than the other 93+ candidates’ resumes that are being reviewed. So why should that recruiter or hiring manager contact YOU for an interview instead of anyone else?

To compete in today’s marketplace, the resume must aggressively showcase your skills, talents and accomplishments to a potential employer and effectively demonstrate how YOU can contribute to their performance and success. In essence, the resume must answer the question: Why does the company want to hire YOU, as opposed to every other qualified individual who has also submitted their resume?
